If you are you looking to update your bathroom this year then take a look at these latest trends in bathroom design, including wooden vanities, spa like features and cool technology.

Black Accents

We started to see this trend at the end of 2018 and it’s not going away. The use of matt black accents in your bathroom is considered to be sleek and stylish this year. Whether you use a black grout in-between your tiles and add in a black shower head or you go for a black vanity and black tap wear, the use of black against a light backdrop is what makes the statement.

Wooden Vanities

For so long vanities have always been white and sterile but this year wood is back and in it’s natural state. The use of wood not only brings the feeling of nature inside your bathroom but also allows you to select the look you want for your bathroom and combine this with a range of other colours. Some of the popular styles of wood are driftwood, reclaimed barn wood, or a stunning shade of stained wood.

Statement Art

Long gone are the days where a bathroom was simply a place to wash. These days it’s seen as a one of the most important rooms in the house and it’s important to make it look nice and blend in with the rest of your home. By adding artwork to a room often brings it together and creates that finishing touch.

Spa Like Features

More bathrooms are seen as a sanctuary these days and the little luxuries are no longer just reserved for spa days. Bathrooms are becoming a place to unwind and enjoy some R&R. So having a spa-inspired bathroom is definitely a trend we are seeing occur in more households.

This is made easier when brands like DXV introduced the bathtub called Aqua Moment, a bathtub inspired by Japanese hot springs that comes complete with chromatherapy lighting and a waterfall system that cascades over the shoulders.

Marble Vanity Tops

Most bathrooms we see have a white vanity top that is simple and expected, but the latest trend for vanities is to mix it up a bit with the introduction of marble. Marble is a versatile and durable stone and absorbs water quickly thanks to its porous nature, making it ideal for bathroom use. If you cannot afford to have a vanity slab of marble in your bathroom but still like the idea of it then why not introduce some marble tiles or accessories.

Technology

As technology develops we are becoming more comfortable introducing this into our homes. The use of talking mirrors and automated toilets is starting to become talked about more and more. One of the latest intelligent toilets to hit the market is Kohler’s Numi Intelligent Toilet. It is considered a breakthrough for cleanliness and convenience at home, offering motion-activated, hands-free opening and closing of the seat and cover, self-cleaning, adjustable seat heating, ambient lighting, and more.
